It is a very detailed ebook that looks at how to see the whole body as the instrument. This means general principles of great posture and great technique blend so completely together that the whole body is singing.
This ebook looks at singing, standing and sitting, and describes in detail how to stand and sit without locking a single muscle in the body and still have a powerfully dynamic vertical supported posture.

I also look at support in singing, and I describe how to support the torso/ribcage in expansion with minimal effort but high dynamic, to create a dynamic performance. Central to this article on singing is that it is possible to learn to do less and less work to create a more and more powerful performance. Trying with great tension gives the illusion of creating a powerfully expressive performance, but if you were to record yourself, you may discover you don’t sound as good or as expressive as you think you are.

Because there is constant movement in the torso and throat, I describe the posture and technique needed to sing with ease in terms of flow and motion, and not in terms of static held positions. When you sing, sound is being produced, so you are obviously changing the shape of the torso. This needs to be experienced in the moment, as the torso is constantly changing shape and not in a static position, as the sound comes out.

There is a section on playing with trust in this ebook. I go into practical experiential detail on singing with the faith that what you hear in your mind can come out of your mouth, if you trust it. This means singing trusting you will sing what you want to hear, rather than trying not to make a mistake.

There is also a section in this ebook on singing as a gift for yourself and the listeners. When you sing as gift for all of the listeners, then you are able to sing from your heart and to perform fearlessly. You simply can’t perform only as a gift and be afraid at the same time.

I also bring to this ebook, An Alexander Technique Approach to Singing (Singers’) Technique, my three year training as a certified Alexander Technique teacher. My Alexander Technique training has given me the tools to look at what any singer does in performing and find a way to make the technique the singer has chosen work. This means the chosen technique doesn’t cause the body to hurt with straining, pain, and vocal injuries.

The Alexander Technique has taught me how to refine the chosen technique of a singer, and show the singer how to make subtle changes that clarify exactly what the singer is doing in performance. This gives the singer conscious control over his or her whole body as he or she practices or performs.
