There is a spiritual work called A Course in Miracles, and there is a section of a chapter in the book called The Hero of the Dream.

What this chapter says is that everybody is a hero to themselves. Weird, huh, but it’s true.

How a person lives his or her life makes them a hero. This means you’re a hero to yourself if you lead a traditionally successful life.

It also means that you’re a hero to yourself if you lead a life that ain’t so great. At least you were strong enough to hang in there and not give up in the face of failure.

What A Course in Miracles also says that is way outside of the accepted norm, is that the way our lives progress is 100% our own choice, but since we believe in bad luck or even good luck, we are always to some extent a victim of circumstances.

That’s where being the hero in your life comes in.

IF YOU CAN BE A VICTIM OF GOOD OR BAD CIRCUMSTANCES, THEN WE AT LEAST UNCONSCIOUSLY DEAL WITH THE GOOD OR BAD OUTCOMES HEROICALLY.

You can’t lose, if things are going badly, because no matter what happens, what you do, you’ve done your best, so you’re a hero.

The implications are enormous. Whether your life is wonderful or a train wreck, at least you did your best.

SO, YOU’RE STILL A HERO, NO MATTER WHAT.

Why am I writing about this?

If you’re an aspiring concert artist or wanting to be a world class athlete, you can go one of two ways.

You can succeed as a concert musical performer or as a record setting athlete, or you can attempt either one and fail.

BUT BECAUSE YOU TRIED AND FAILED, YOU STILL ARE THE HERO IN YOUR DREAM, SO YOU HAVEN’T FAILED.

I was thinking, it’s weirdly incredible to see it’s ok to set yourself up for failure, BECAUSE YOU CAN FAIL AND STILL BE YOUR OWN HERO.

Now, if you let yourself see what’s going on consciously, you could choose to succeed big time?

If you’ve unconsciously created a life where “doing your best” and failing allows you to be a hero to yourself, then wouldn’t it be amazing to create a life where you succeed/win and be a hero to yourself in this life?
