ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL DESTRUCTIVE BELIEFS OF YOUR EGO IS THAT NOTHING YOU DO WILL MAKE A TRANSFORMATIVE CHANGE IN YOUR OLD BELIEFS OR TECHNIQUE IN A SPORT OR ON A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT.

IN OTHER WORDS, YOU CANNOT CHANGE DEEP SEATED BELIEFS IN GENERAL, OR OLD TECHNIQUE IN SPORT’S OR MUSICAL WITHOUT CONSTANT WORK, NONSTOP VIGILANCE.

What this means is all of your deep seated beliefs about life in general or how you you run or play the piano, that you have come to realize do NOT allow you to live in joy or run or play the piano with great ease, will continue to interfere no matter how much REAL truth you’ve acquired along the way.

If you believe this consciously or unconsciously, then you will NOT be able to substitute the TRUTH for the lies you have lived by your whole life, and for as long as you have run or played a musical instrument or sung.

IF YOU BELIEVE EARLY BELIEFS AND EARLY RULES ABOUT POSTURE AND TECHNIQUE IN RUNNING OR ON AN INSTRUMENT CANNOT BE SIMPLY REPLACED WITH THE TRUE TRUTH, THEN YOU ARE CONDEMNING YOURSELF TO STRUGGLE AND REGRET.

What do I mean?

My experience is that most psychotherapists and Alexander Technique teachers teach that the depth of early beliefs and instrumental and sports programming can only be managed.

This means if you find a better way to live your life, play the piano, or run a mile, you must be vigilant against the old lies you use to live by.

A great traditional Alexander Technique teacher will teach you how to run or play a piano with great physical ease, as long as you are vigilant to inhibit your old destructive technique.

This means being aware of when you’re playing the piano or running the old way, and inhibit the poor posture and bad technique which causes excessive wear and tear to the body. Do what you do with effortless technique and effortless flowing upright posture.

When it comes to your personal beliefs, a psychotherapist makes you aware of beliefs you have lived by that have been self-destructive. You are shown at a very conscious level how these destructive beliefs are causing you and others pain.

But, again, like in the Alexander Technique, whether it is said out loud or implied by the Alexander Technique teacher or the psychotherapist, you must always be vigilant of not returning to bad technique or bad behavior, of being hurt by your old technique, or mugged by destructive reactions when you feel you are being attacked.

When running or playing the piano, you can put your faith and trust into effortlessly running or effortlessly playing the right note by playing the piano or running believing you can’t miss. You will experience effortless precision, having been freed up by the extraordinary body use realizations of the Alexander Technique. You then can run effortlessly or play the piano effortlessly accurately. You have deleted the lies about good posture and bad piano technique you oh so profoundly believed were true.

Your ability to run or play the piano allows you to instantly demonstrate the Truths of the Alexander Technique, and simply go for it fearlessly in your running or playing a piece of music.

BUT WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ATTEMPT TO CHANGE YOUR OLD BELIEFS OF SEEING YOURSELF AND OTHERS AS ALWAYS THREATENING?

You see, the ego will probably let you transform your running technique or piano technique that creates effortless accurate technique, that makes running and piano playing easy, but it will usually put the brakes on if you have a very defended frightened personality you want to heal.

So, let’s say through working with a great psychologist and tons or self-analysis and finding a spiritual belief system that is Truth, you can identify what the truly enlightened you should look like, you may run straight into a wall.

This means you know that if you allow yourself to live the Truth, you will exist without pain and fear and suffering and death, then why will you probably resist the peace of the Truth?

As far as I can tell, psychologists believe everybody is neurotic with permanent problems, and that their job is to help you accept you are a permanent mess and learn to manage your mess, so that moments of great joy and clarity become more frequent.

The implication is that we are all flawed immutably, which is of course why the world is one big violent mess and why most TV shows portray violence and cruelty as the immutable norm.

SO, CAN WE LIVE OUR LIVES LIKE THE NOW PRODIGY RUNNER OR THE PRODIGY PIANIST, WHO HAVE FOUND A WAY TO DO SO EVEN WITH BAD TECHNIQUE BACKGROUNDS?

I believe we can.

THE MORE LIES YOU HAVE LIVED BY YOUR WHOLE LIFE THAT YOU CHALLENGE, THE HARDER THE PUSH BACK, BECAUSE YOU IDENTIFIED WITH BEING YOUR BELIEFS AND THEY DETERMINED HOW YOU REACT AND FEEL IN MOST SITUATIONS.

So, every time you challenge a belief you’ve chosen to believe since childhood, this is a life threatening assault on yourself.

But, if you’re aware that you now have great Truths you know will bring you great joy and an end to your suffering, can you complete your journey back to the flawless you?

In other words can you live without fear that you will not ambush yourself anymore?

Let’s see if there is a way to be free of attacking/mugging yourself.

The unconscious “truths” of the Alexander Technique and psychotherapy is that you have to be always vigilant against what you believed about yourself, your sport or musical instrument, that you have lived by that you now know was harming you.

What if this is a gigantic ego preserving lie?

What if you can 100% replace what you lived by that was false by what is true, like deleting a program on a computer and replacing it with an infinitely better one?

I want to go one step further, what if you could replace your way of being and doing stuff with an infinitely better way of doing and believing something, without deleting/forgetting how you used to be.

WHAT THIS MEANS IS YOU REMEMBER HOW YOU DEALT WITH YOURSELF AND OTHERS, AND YOUR FEARS YOU WOULD ALWAYS BE COMPULSED IN DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES TO REVERT. IN OTHER WORDS, YOU REMEMBER WHAT YOU DID THAT WAS NOT LOVING AND DON’T DO IT ANYMORE WITH GREAT JOY.

Everything I just wrote is great when you have not reverted/backslid to attacking others and defending yourself. How do you pullout of a nosedive with ease, and realize you can remember your past and still be free of it?

I have done this on the guitar. When I now play the guitar and miss a note, I effortlessly have the faith I won’t do it the next time, so I don’t attack myself and threaten to hurt myself when I make mistakes like I used to.

I remember what I did, and I feel extraordinarily good that I don’t have to abuse myself anymore and can continue to play like a prodigy, even though I was as far as you can get from being a child prodigy! So, I remember the way it used to be on the guitar and have freed myself from that rage towards myself when I made mistakes.

CAN A PERSON BE AWARE OF WHAT DOESN’T WORK AND AWARE OF WHAT DOES WORK, AND DO WHAT DOES WORK IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT?

YES!

BUT IT REQUIRES THAT YOU COME TO BELIEVE YOUR PAST IS NOT PERMANENT, AND DOING WHAT WORKS IS TRUTH, IS A MASSIVE LOVING EXPANSION OF WHO YOU ARE AND NOT A THREAT TO WHO YOU REALLY WEREN’T.
