(PART TWO OF A TWO PART ESSAY)

I want to change gears here and define a very important Alexander Technique principle and tool – INHIBITION.

INHIBITION is a powerful concept in the Alexander Technique that we teach all of our clients, so that they can get themselves out of physical trouble by themselves, and/or prevent physical problems. Here’s the definition.

Just before you start a specific activity, like brushing your teeth or playing a musical instrument or running, you stop and choose to move with balanced ease throughout the body. You do the activity with Alexander Technique principles of great body use and posture. You stop hurting yourself like you always have moving habitually badly.

You can also inhibit a destructive habit in the middle of the activity, by either stopping and restarting where you are, or continue to move and release the excess tension and poor posture as you run or make music or whatever.

Returning…..

It has been my personal experience that negative feelings I have that overwhelm me feel overwhelmingly true/valid. Since the thoughts that create them are so incredibly fleeting, I had been unaware that self-attack thoughts are causing my crippling emotions.

I’m guessing this is probably universal, and why the majority of people feel they’re at the mercy of their negative feelings. AMNESIA is caused by a combination of an intolerable cruel flashing thought and its attendant emotion feeling so incredibly true, that it paralyzes you.

It isn’t true, and if you’re willing to stop, sit down, dig up the thought responsible for the feeling, then you can return choice to yourself and not be run by a lie, by using the Alexander Technique tool of Inhibition to choose to stop the thought.

Here’s another consideration that goes against the accepted psychotherapeutic grain.

IT ISN’T BELOW CONSCIOUSNESS CONSTANTLY INACCESSIBLE STREAMING THOUGHTS THAT OVERRIDE THE TRUTH OF US. WE CAN ONLY HAVE ONE THOUGHT AT A TIME, AND IF WE CHOOSE WHAT THESE THOUGHTS ARE AND THEY’RE LOVING, THEN WE ARE OPENING THE DOOR TO OUR INHERENT STATE OF JOY.

IT IS THE COMPRESSED BELOW AWARENESS, BUT NOT INACCESSIBLE SELF-ATTACK THOUGHTS THAT OCCUR, THAT CAUSE US TO EMOTIONALLY CRASH AND BURN OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Here is one last powerful old habit that can keep us derailed.

THEY ARE THOUGHTS OF INTRUSION AND DISCOUNTING.

Ideally if we choose to think only thoughts of love and creating, then we should be alright, but this isn’t quite so. What do I mean?

I’ve noticed when I’m thinking thoughts of love, there are these very quick sneaky cruel thoughts, that hide themselves among my thoughts or affirmations of love or creating.

Example: A loving thought is, “God always takes care of me, no exceptions.”

Sneaky cruel fast not perceived thought: “What’s going to happen to me?”

The sneaky cruel fast thought quickly causes me to feel fear for my future, and my emotion of love is instantly overwhelmed.

What is the solution to this problem? BECOME AWARE IT’S HAPPENING CONTINUOUSLY AND OUT OF YOUR CONSCIOUS AWARENESS. MAKE IT CONSCIOUS!

Realize that these interspersed thoughts of cruelty are still occurring in a linear fashion, and that they’re not simultaneously being thought with your chosen thoughts. They are not hidden from you underneath your thoughts of love and ruining your joy against your will. They are simply bad habits of fear-ridden thinking, made when you were extremely self-unaware, alternating between your empowering thoughts.

With the full conscious awareness you are ambushing yourself with hit and run guerilla warfare tactics, then you see what YOU’RE DOING, not what is not being done to you.

Inhibit the cruel thoughts, and choose to think what is best for you, and stop doing what you’ve always done, which is believe you didn’t have a choice against harsh insane conditioning.

THIS GIVES YOU BACK ALL OF YOUR POWER AND PEACE.

I’d like to venture into the spiritual tied to the psychological for a moment.

If you accept that you have the ability to bring complete peace to yourself, if you think only thoughts of love and peace and creating, then what are you doing when you think thoughts of anticipating something going wrong?

I think for many people they think they are being very smart and practical. They are keeping themselves safe by anticipating bad things happening and keeping bad things from happening by preventing them from happening.

What if it’s the opposite? What do I mean?

WHAT IF AS AN ACT OF PERCEIVED SELF LOVE, YOU CONSISTENTLY ANTICIPATE DISASTER AND BELIEVE YOU ARE PREVENTING IT? IN DOING SO, WHAT IF YOU ARE CAUSING BAD THINGS TO HAPPEN TO YOURSELF BY ANTICIPATING THEM? YOU EXPECT THEM, YOU GET THEM.

The more bad things you “anticipate” and prevent, the more likely you are to create the habit of anticipating bad stuff happening, and believe you have nothing to do with the bad event. You’re only being very aware and smart in preventing it.

WHAT IF BAD THINGS ONLY HAPPEN BECAUSE YOU ANTICIPATE THEM WITH YOUR THOUGHTS AND CREATE THEM, NOT BECAUSE SHIT HAPPENS.

I’ve written this essay to help readers see what is always before our eyes, but we may not be seeing what what we need to see to be at peace. I’ve yet to meet someone who is as enlightened as this essay points to in their evolution/healing.

So, I’m absolutely a fan of psychotherapy, and I believe it is very necessary must for most of us to gain loving control of our lives. Everything in my essay can really move you towards healing, if you CAN apply it, without being overwhelmed by your ego.

THE SELF-AUTHORED SELF, THE EGO, WILL DO ANYTHING TO KEEP THE PERSONA YOU’VE MADE YOURSELF INTO. IN FACT MY EXPERIENCE IS THAT THE EGO MAY CHOOSE TO KILL YOU, RATHER THAN LET YOU EVOLVE AND CHANGE AND HEAL AND BE POWERFUL.

So, if this is what you’re experiencing, a really enlightened psychotherapist couldn’t hurt. Make sure it’s a really aware therapist, because it’s been my experience that each therapist I have worked with could only help me become as aware as they were.

If the therapist you choose can assist you in your evolution beyond the limitations of your ego, then you can move physically, psychologically, and spiritually beyond those in your orbit and outside your orbit, including your Alexander Technique teacher and/or therapist.

This should be the goal of every psychotherapist and Alexander Technique teacher, to make it possible for the student to become the master.
